Set of Three Caulking Irons
Caulking irons are used to drive oakum, cotton or rope fibers in the seams of a ship’s wooden deck or side / hull to make it watertight. It also plays a structural role in tightening up the hull / deck of a ship and reduces the longitudinal movement of neighboring planks. If you’re going to use a plane more than a couple of times a year, this is the tool to get. The Stanley Sweetheart line of planes are finished on-par with the high-end toolmakers.
10″ long, 2-1/2″ wide, frog and base are one casting. Cherry wood handle/knob. Special attention has been given to the finish machining of the cast iron body and the adjusting threads and knobs.
